Jules Verne: Captain Nemo character (2) as author’s tricky alternate personality

“Nemo” is a name derived from the Latin for “nobody.”  And “Nobody” is a favorite trick name used by persons with multiple personality:

“When the therapist inquires as to who in the [person’s] system [of personalities] is responsible for some behavior, he or she will be told “No one.” So the therapist should be prepared to inquire whether there is a personality known as “No one,” “No name,” or “Nobody” (1, p. 117).
