BASIC CONCEPTS

— When novelists claim they do not invent it, but hear voices and find stories in their head, they are neither joking nor crazy.

— When characters, narrators, or muses have minds of their own and occasionally take over, they are alternate personalities.

— Alternate personalities and memory gaps, but no significant distress or dysfunction, is a normal version of multiple personality.

— normal Multiple Personality Trait (MPT) (core of Multiple Identity Literary Theory), not clinical Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD)

— The normal version of multiple personality is an asset in fiction writing when some alternate personalities are storytellers.

— Multiple personality originates when imaginative children with normal brains have unassuaged trauma as victim or witness.

— Psychiatrists, whose standard mental status exam fails to ask about memory gaps, think they never see multiple personality.

— They need the clue of memory gaps, because alternate personalities don’t acknowledge their presence until their cover is blown.

— In novels, most multiple personality, per se, is unnoticed, unintentional, and reflects the author’s view of ordinary psychology.

— Multiple personality means one person who has more than one identity and memory bank, not psychosis or possession.

— Euphemisms for alternate personalities include parts, pseudonyms, alter egos, doubles, double consciousness, voice or voices.

— Multiple personality trait: 90% of fiction writers; possibly 30% of public.

Trump’s Victory says “Make America Great (Masculine) Again” and that if people with multiple personality can win Nobel prizes, why not the USA presidency?

In USA presidential politics, it is unusual for either of the two major parties to occupy the White House for three successive four-year terms. And since the Democrats (Obama) have just had two four-year terms, it would have been expected that the next president would be the Republican (Trump).

The two major parties are usually thought of as liberal (Democrats) and conservative (Republicans), but they have also come to represent feminine (Democrats) and masculine (Republicans). Therefore, to have had a female candidate (Hillary Clinton) win a third four-year term for the liberal/feminine Democrats would have been adding insult to injury (not to me, but to many).

The reasons for my previous posts on Trump were his past use of pseudonyms and his puzzling inconsistency, which do not prove, but raise the possibility of multiple personality.

As I have previously said, if Trump did have multiple personality, it would be the normal version, so it would not necessarily pose a danger to the country or the world. But the presidency might pose a threat to him, because multiple personality likes to keep itself secret, and Trump’s personality, like his tax returns, may find it more difficult to keep themselves secret throughout four to eight years of being president.
